Michael Clarke Named Australian Cricket Captain
It’s no great surprise but today Cricket Australia formally announced that Michael Clarke will replace Ricky Ponting to be Australia’s Test Skipper.
With the appointment starting immediately Clarke’s first major challenge will be to lead the Australian cricket team in next months tour of Bangladesh.
After stepping down as Captain the 36 year old Pointing said yesterday that he was committed to continue in the game, hoping to be able to improve his remarkable batting preformance.
The NSW batsman, Michael Clarke, has supported Ponting as Vice Captain since 2008.  His replacement in the position of Vice Captain will be Shane Watson.
